The Student Sector is divided into two branches:
The primary concern and integral field of missionary interest of the Association “The Great Basil” is our children. The catechesis and introduction of our beloved children to Orthodox Christian spirituality is a task to which our Association tries to contribute through its student sector.
Through participation in small groups organized by class, a comprehensive, thorough, meaningful and enjoyable catechism program is provided, through which our children are taught the Bible, know the will of God and learn to love Christ, recognizing Him as Lord of their lives. The curriculum is renewed every year so that it can achieve its goal by responding to the performances and concerns of children of this age.
Under the guidance of trained staff members, they approach stories from the New and Old Testaments, the lives of the saints and the history of our Church, acquiring each time the necessary lessons for the daily life of the children. All this in an environment of pure friendship and accompanied by songs and group play. Boys and girls are organized into separate groups, who meet every week for nine months of the year.
At the same time, the programme is combined with liturgical opportunities, during which the services of our Church are celebrated exclusively for the children of the Christian groups, in order to help them to be more easily introduced to the sacramental space of Orthodoxy.
But there are also day trips (or even three-day trips for older children) to beautiful destinations with a programme full of fun, games, useful stories and plenty of time for good company.
Before Christmas and the national holidays, theatrical performances are organized, in which every child has the opportunity to unfold his or her talents and through the sixth art to offer his or her friends emotions and lessons.
Finally, throughout the year, there is no lack of sports meetings.
